A Week in the Virginia Mountains
If you wondered why there was no post last week, it’s because … I took last week off! Surprise!
It’s been 6 months since I skipped a week, and I think I’ll do it more often. Maybe every 3 months or so :) I took the time off to soak up a wonderful wedding. My terrific friends Kaelin & Hudson got hitched in the Virginia mountains! Above are a few photos from the trip.
Does God Love Art?
Before writing today’s post I asked myself, “if nobody was reading this, what would I want to write?”
And I realized I’m in a poetry mood. So today we’re doing poetry. Also I want to show you this weird drawing of a fisherman/boy and a massive worm in a top hat. I drew it on the plane home from the wedding.
Fun right?
Anyway, here are 3 poems I wrote last summer, and I’m not even going to explain what they mean or why you should care.
For all you know they’re just for fun.
And if there’s a meaning and you’re meant to know it, you’re a smart guy, you’ll figure it out.
Enjoy!
Poem 1: Peter the Cowardly Duck
Poem 2: Homemade Pomade that Mom Made
Poem 3: Anxious for Nothing
I hope you have a great, art-filled day!

Yes, God Loves Art.
P.S., Shel Silverstein is one of my favorite people ever. When I get stressed I really enjoy reading his poems and looking at his drawings. It simplifies things, you know? I hope he was a Christian, maybe we can hang out on the new earth one day.
P.P.S., if you’re an artist, or love the art others make, embrace it! God has always loved art. He’s all for beautiful things. Even before sin God made things both for function and beauty.
“And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.” (Genesis 2:9a ESV, emphasis added)
Maybe this means we should do things just because they’re fun sometimes! Note to self: not everything has to be maximally purposeful for it to be acceptable to God. It seems that as long as it is done in faith and from love (Galatians 5:6), pretty much everything is fair game (1 Cor 10:13, Titus 1:15, Col 3:23, 1 Cor 16:14, 1 Tim 6:17)!
P.P.P.S., on that note, here’s me after dominating in a game of Patently Stupid. Had to quick flex because being the king of stupid ideas is very important to me. If the earth’s core ever cracks, let me know, I got answers.
OK! GO HAVE A GREAT, COLORFUL, FREE-TO-BE-YOU DAY!
